Before you Begin

This 10-minute tutorial shows you how to create a Key Performance Indicator (KPI).

Background

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) represent data elements that are analyzed together to create a comprehensive view of an enterprise's performance against a specific goal.

KPIs can use a data set or subject area, or multiple data sources with at least one join between the data sets that establishes their data relationships.

This tutorial uses the HCM - Workforce Core subject area and a spreadsheet with sample data to use in the KPI.

What Do You Need?

Add a Data Set

  1. Sign in to Oracle Cloud to open Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse.
  2. On the Home page, click the Navigator Navigator icon, and then select Data.
  3. On the Data page, click Create. In Create, click Data Set.
  4. In Create Data Set, click Drop data file here or click to browse.
  5. In File Upload, select the span_control_targets.xlsx file, and then click Open.
  6. In Add Data Set, click the Fiscal Year column.
  7. In Fiscal Year properties, click Measure in the Treat As row, and then select Attribute. Click Add.

  8. Click Go back Go back icon to return to the Data page.
  9. In the Data page, click Close.

Add the Data Set to Your KPI

  1. On the Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse Home page, click the Navigator, and then click KPIs.
  2. On the KPIs page, click Create.
  3. In Add Data Set, click HCM - Workforce Core, and then click Add to KPI.
  4. In the Overview, enter My Span of Control in Name. In Description, enter Span of Control KPI. In Tags, enter Workforce, SpanofControl.
  5. In the Data Elements panel, click Add Data Set Add Data Set icon. In Add Data Set, click Data Sets, click span_control_targets, and the click Add to KPI.

Define the KPI

  1. In the Data Elements panel, click My Span of Control to display the KPI's properties. Verify that Auto is the value in Data Blending.

  2. In the Data Elements panel, expand the HCM - Workforce Core folder, and then expand the Workforce Headcount Facts folder, and then the Facts - Workforce Headcount folder.
  3. Select Span of Control Workforce Structure, and then drag it to Measurement field in the KPI.
  4. In the Data Elements panel, expand the span_control_targets data set, select Our Target, and drop it in Target under Data in the KPI.
  5. In the Data Elements panel, expand Time folder, select Fiscal Year, and then drag and drop it in the Year field. Select Fiscal Quarter, and then drag and drop it in the Quarter field.
  6. In the Data Elements panel, under the span_control_targets data set, select Job Family, and then drag and drop it in Related Grouping Categories.
  7. Expand the Common folder under HCM - Workforce Core subject area. Expand the Business Unit folder, select Business Unit Name, and then drag and drop it in Related Grouping Categories.
  8. Under Conditions, click Presets, and then select last row in the list.


    The values in the last row are:

    • Good 100%
    • On Target 90%
    • Warning 70%
    • Critical less than 70%

Add Links

  1. In Links, click Add Link. In Add Link, click All. In Add Link All, click Shared Folders.
  2. In Shared Folders, click the Oracle folder.
  3. In the Oracle folder, click Fusion HCM. In Fusion HCM folder, click Workforce. In the Workforce folder, click Span of Control, and then click OK.
  4. In Add Link, click OK.
  5. Click Add Link. In Add Link, click All. In Add Link All, click Shared Folders.
  6. In Shared Folders, click the Oracle folder.
  7. In the Oracle folder, click Fusion HCM. In Fusion HCM folder, click Workforce. In the Workforce folder, click Team Effectiveness, and then click OK.

  8. In Add Link, click OK.
  9. Click Save.


    The blue icon in the My Span of Control KPI indicates a user-created KPI. You can add the KPI to a card.
