Limit Whom to Reassign or Delegate Workflow Tasks To

When users reassign or delegate workflow tasks, by default they can select any user. You can create and set a profile option so that users can select only someone with the same legal employer, or only from specific legal employers.

Note: Here's when the data restriction you set up applies or doesn't apply:
  • Applies even when users are defining vacation rules that control what happens to tasks that are assigned to them while they're out of office.
  • Applies only to users defined as employees in Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM.

  • Doesn't apply to UIs where users request more information about a specific workflow task, or where you select users as part of workflow configuration, for example when creating an approval group.

Before You Start

Make sure your security administrator has already restricted the availability of employee data in general, by defining a security profile and assigning it to a custom job role.

Create the Profile Option

Here's what you do:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Profile Options task in the Application Extensions functional area for your offering.

  2. On the Manage Applications Core Profile Options page, click the New icon.

  3. On the Create Profile Option page, enter BPM_RESTRICT_WORKFLOW_USERS_BY_SECURITY_POLICY as the profile option code.

  4. Enter a display name that you can easily remember to help you find the profile option later.

  5. From the Application list, select Common Work Setup.

  6. From the Module list, select Application Common.

  7. Specify a start date.

  8. Click Save and Close.

  9. On the Manage Applications Core Profile Options page, make sure your new profile option is selected in the Search Results: Profile Options subsection.

  10. In the <Profile Option>: Profile Option Levels subsection, select the Enabled and Updatable check boxes for the Site level.

  11. Save your work.

Set the Profile Option

In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Applications Core Administrator Profile Values task in the Application Extensions functional area. Set your profile option at the Site level with true as the profile value. This setting will take effect after about an hour.
