Configure ID Graph Rules, Subrules, and Data Source Views

The apps decision service utilizes Unity’s Customer 360 ID Graph, Subrules and Data Source Views (DSVs). Data that is to be used for decision making in Eloqua programs must be configured and available via Unity’s ID Graph prior to configuring the decision step. See Configuring ID Graph Rules, Subrules, and Data Source Views for more information.

Configure the decision service on the program canvas

After the Oracle Unity app is installed in Oracle Eloqua and Unity is configured, you can use the decision service with a contact program.

Note : The decision service configuration supports the selection of contact field values as well as Eloqua campaign values. When campaign value are selected, if the contacts do not enter the program from a campaign, the campaign field value will always be empty.

Before you begin:

  1. Install the Oracle Unity app
  2. Configure ID Graph Rules, Subrules, and Data Source Views

To configure the decision service on the program canvas:

  1. In Oracle Eloqua, open an existing contact program or create a new one.

Note: The Unity Decision Service will work only with contact programs.

  2. Drag the Oracle CX Unity Decision step from the Decisions section onto the canvas.
  3. Double-click the step to open the decision configure screen.
    • Change the name of the step to something more meaningful
    • Choose to route contacts that resulted in an error to another step. Learn more about this setting.
  4. Click the Edit An image of the edit button icon to configure the decision.

  5. Configure the Unity ID graph rule settings:

    • ID Graph rule – Choose an existing ID graph rule (that has subrules defined under it) from the connected Unity instance.
    • Select Subrule – Choose a subrule from the available list of subrules associated with the previously selected ID graph rule.

Note: Only data configure and available via Unity’s ID Graph can be used. See Configuring ID Graph Rules, Subrules, and Data Source Views for more information.

  6. Configure the Unique identifier mapping:
    • Unique identifier in Eloqua – This is the list of Campaign fields and Contact fields available under the Oracle Eloqua instance.

To select multiple fields concatenated with a separator, click next to the Unique identifier in Unity field and select Advanced mode. With Advanced mode, two fields are available selection (a combination of campaign and contact fields can be used, separated by a predefined delimiter or underscore [_], pipe [|], or hyphen [-]).

    • Unique identifier in Unity – This value is the data source view (dsv) attribute mapped to the selected subrule in Oracle Unity. It is auto populated based on the subrule selected. This is non editable.

  7. Use the Filter section to define the condition to base the decision on. If the condition is met, the contact will flow through the yes path of the decision, otherwise the contact will flow through the no path. Configure the filter:

    • Unity Fields – This is the list of Oracle Unity profile attributes available in the output of the ID Graph rule selected in the first top section. One of the listed attributes can be selected to which the threshold criteria is to be defined using an operand.
    • Clicking Add Unity Field will add another row and a different attribute can be selected with threshold criteria. Adding more Unity fields under the Filter section will narrow down the matching results. A delete icon is provided against each Unity field row to remove in case not required.
  8. Click Save.

When a contact flows into the decision step, they are routed down the appropriate path of the program based on whether or not they met the threshold criteria.
