Version Compatibility

Environment Backups and Artifact Snapshots can be restored or imported only within supported version ranges of the target environment.

Environment Backup

Environment Backups support restore across up to two future monthly updates. An Environment Backup created on version N can be restored to the same environment on versions N, N+1, or N+2.

For example, an environment backup created on an environment running 26.05 update can be restored to this environment when the environment is on 26,05, 26.06, or 26.07 update.

Similarly, an environment backup can be cloned if the target version is up to two months ahead of the source version. For example, if the source environment is on 26.05 update, the target environment has to be on 26.05, 26.06, or 26.07 update for the clone to be successful.

Note:

  • Source and target environments must not be on different one-off patches
  • If the source or the target environment is on a one-off patch, both environments must be on the same one-off patch

Artifact Snapshot

Artifact Snapshots usually support import within one monthly update range. An Artifact Snapshot created on version N can be imported into the same environment on versions N, N+1, or N-1.

For example, the Artifact Snapshot on an environment running 26.05 update can be imported to the same environment when it has 26.04, 26.05, or 26.06 update.

Similarly, an Artifact Snapshot can be cloned from a source to a target environment as long as the target environment version is within one month of the source environment version. For example, if the source environment is on 26.05 update, the target environment has to be on 26.04, 26.05, or 26.06 update for the clone to be successful.

Exceptions:

  • Strategic Modeling: Import is only allowed if both environments are on the exact same update. For example, if the source environment is on the 26.05 update, the target environment must also be on 26.05.
  • Account Reconciliation and Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Data Management: Import is allowed if the target environment is either on the same monthly update or the next update relative to the source environment. For example, if the source environment is on the 26.05 update, the target environment can be on either 26.05 or 26.06.

If a snapshot is incompatible, the system displays a warning and the import may fail.

EPMLCM-26000: This snapshot is from Cloud EPM VERSION_NUMBER that is incompatible with this update and may result in import errors.

You can upgrade incompatible snapshots other than Account Reconciliation and Cloud EDM snapshots to make them compatible with the current version of an environment. See "Recreating an Old Cloud EPM Environment for Audits" in Working with EPM Automate.
