Connecting Using Basic Authentication

You can use basic authentication such as your user name and password to connect to your business process from Oracle Smart View for Google Workspace.

Before you start:

  • Ensure that you have installed the Oracle Smart View for Google Workspace extension from Google Workspace Marketplace and provided the access permissions required by Google Workspace. For more information, see Installing Smart View in Getting Started with Oracle Smart View for Google Workspace.
  • Ensure that your Service Administrator has enabled the Smart View Extension forGoogle Sheets for your business process. For more information, see Enabling the Smart View Extension for Google Sheets in Getting Started with Oracle Smart View for Google Workspace.
  • To troubleshoot connection issues while connecting to your business process from Google Sheets using Smart View, see Troubleshooting Connection Issues.

To connect to your business process using basic authentication:

  1. Sign in to Google Sheets using your Google Workspace credentials and open a new spreadsheet.
  2. In the Extensions menu, select Smart View for Google Workspace, and then select Connect under Start.
  3. In the Connect dialog, clear the Company Sign In check box, if it appears selected.

    By default, this check box appears selected or cleared based on your previous selection.

  4. Enter the server URL of your business process. You can click the Server URL list to view the previously connected URLs or search the list by typing a part of the desired URL and selecting it from the filtered matching results.

    To change the display order of the previously connected server URLs or to delete them from the list, see Managing Connections.

  5. Enter your user name and password in the User and Password fields.

  6. Click Connect.

    Once connected, the Launch Home button appears in the Connect dialog. You are now connected to your business process from Google Sheets.

    • If you want to only establish the connection to your data source, you can click Close to close the Connect dialog. This is helpful when you are working with multiple data sources and want to keep active connections ready before setting a specific one for your sheet.
    • If you want to launch the Smart View Home panel and access the library of your data source, continue with the next step.
    • If the login fails due to incorrect or expired password, log in to the web application of your business process, change your password, and then try logging in with the new password in Google Sheets.
  7. Click Launch Home to open the Smart View Home panel.

    In the Smart View Home panel, you can view the library and work on forms and ad hoc grids present in the business application.
