Understanding General File Size Recommendations

Effective file-size management helps maintain efficient report package performance and reduces overall service storage usage.

Use the following recommendations to manage report package file size and storage:

• Store large supplemental documents in the Narrative Reporting library or another external document repository, and reference them as needed instead of including them directly in the report package.
• Retain the default number of prior doclet versions.
• Do not significantly increase version-retention limits.
• Periodically remove obsolete report package artifacts.
• Use the Delete Working Papers process to remove unnecessary review instances, prior doclet versions, and distributions from completed report packages.
• Remove obsolete artifacts to reduce overall service storage usage and improve maintenance and backup efficiency.
