Designing Style Samples
For Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint report packages, you can design the style sample to closely match the final report or presentation.
Ensure that the style sample is concise and include only the representative pages, slides, styles, slide masters, and layouts required for the report package. If you upload an entire prior report or presentation as a style sample, it may affect performance when you add doclets.
Use the following product-specific recommendations when preparing style samples for Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint report packages:
Microsoft Word Report Packages
You can include examples of any Microsoft Word styles that have been modified from their default values. This ensures that the modified styles are available to all doclets.
Microsoft PowerPoint Report Packages
- Review and simplify slide masters, and remove unused slide masters and layouts.
- Exclude layouts that contain large embedded image files, such as cover-page or transition-page layouts.
- Add these layouts directly to the individual doclet presentations in which they are required. When the report package is merged, the required layouts are incorporated into the combined presentation.
Note:
PDF (Portable Document Format) report packages do not use a style sample. You must specify the header, footer, and margin information when you create a PDF report package.
