Application Overview

An application is a related set of dimensions and dimension members used to meet a set of business process needs. Each application has its own cubes, dimensions, accounts, entities, scenarios, and other data elements.

An application is based on a set of related dimensions and dimension members used to meet a set of business process needs. Each application has its own cubes, dimensions, data, models, calculation rules, and analytic artifacts.

You can have a single Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management application for each environment. An application consists of a single ASO calculation cube and a single ASO reporting cube. Up to three additional cubes are allowed.

To create an application, see Creating an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management Application.

After an application is created, you can view and manage it using the Application console. To view the Application console, select Application, and then Overview.

The Application console consists of these tabs:

• Overview: Application name, description, and type; the number of data definitions (dashboards, forms, and reports) in the application; the number of rules in the application; and the cubes used by the application.

• Cubes: See Managing Cubes.

• Dimensions: See Managing Dimensions.

• Activity Reports: See Viewing Activity Reports.

From any of the tabs on the Application console, you can click these buttons:

• Refreshes the Application console to ensure it is displaying the latest information.

• Click the drop-down to perform the following tasks:

  • Importing and Exporting Data

  • Importing Exchange Rates for a Multicurrency Application (Available only if you created a Currency dimension when you created your application. See Setting Up Currencies.)

  • Refreshing the Application Database

  • Creating Clear Cube Jobs

  • Removing an Application

  • Uploading and Downloading Files Using the Inbox/Outbox Explorer
