Creating Cubes

In addition to the pre-loaded PCM_CLC calculation cube and the PCM_REP reporting cube, you may want to create additional cubes to use in your organization. For example, you could create a custom cube to collect driver data or to stage and validate input data before loading the data into the calculation cube. The number of cubes you create depends on the needs of your organization. You can create up to three custom cubes.

To create a new cube:

  1. From the Home page, select Application, and then Overview.
  2. On the Application page, select the Cubes tab.

  3. On the Cubes tab, click Create.

  4. On the Create Cube page, enter a Name, Type, and Description for the cube.

    Since you can add only Aggregate Storage cubes in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, select Aggregate Storage Option for the Type. When creating a new cube, aggregate storage limits apply.

  5. Click Done.

    The new cube is displayed along with the PCM_CLC and PCM_REP cubes on the Cubes tab.

After you create a cube, you add dimensions to the cube (see Managing Dimensions) and then refresh the database to commit the changes to the application (see Refreshing the Application Database.

Note:

After a cube is created, you cannot rename or delete it.
