Create an Activity or a Service Request from a Custom Map Layer

In the utility organizations where map layers are commonly used, you can create an activity or a service request from a map layer and include the asset details and GPS location. You can also interact with the asset directly and obtain historical and/or IoT data about assets. The application can capture the correct location and asset properties automatically, if configured.

Example: A facility maintenance company wants its dispatchers and mobile workers to be able to create a maintenance activity from a map asset. The steps to perform in the application are:
  1. Administrator configures the plug-in or the custom form. Let's say, your administrator has configured the 'Add maintenance activity' custom form.
  2. Administrator configures the Shape hint button field for the plug-in or custom form, for the required custom map layer. For example, the Administrator has configured the Shape hint button field with the 'Add maintenance activity' custom form.
  3. Dispatchers and mobile workers open the plug-in or custom form from the team map or the resource route map and create the activity or service request.

Steps to create an activity or a service request from a custom map layer:

  1. Open the team map or the resource route map.
  2. Click the layer icon and select the layer on which Shape hint button is configured. Based on the earlier example, select the layer for which the 'Add maintenance activity' custom form is configured.
  3. Click the shape and then click the plug-in or custom form in the hint. Based on the earlier example, click 'Add maintenance activity'.
The configured plug-in or custom form opens. Based on the earlier example, the 'Add maintenance activity' custom form opens and lets you create the activity.
