Update an Activity Location

Sometimes, when addresses aren't resolved for activities, you may want to find out the reason. You may want to see an alternative address provided by Google, or change the address components and check when the address is resolved. You may also want to set an updated address and coordinates for an activity and check its location on the map. You can use the Update Activity Location option for all these tasks. The Update Activity Location button is available on the Activity Details page if your administrator has configured it.

  1. Open the activity for which you want to resolve the address.
  2. On the Activity Details page, click Update Activity Location.
The Update Activity Location dialog box appears and displays these fields:
    Field Name Description
Address, City, ZIP/Postal Code, State The address components of the activity, populated from the Activity Details page. Apart from this, if you're using Oracle Fusion Field Service and your administrator has configured the Address field, you can also see the formatted address field and the supported read-only Service Work Order address fields.
Country The list of country values configured in the Available countries section on the Configuration > Business Rules page. This field isn't displayed when Available countries contains only one item. If you haven't specified the country for the activity, then the Default country for geocoding that's set on the Business Rules page is selected by default.
Map If the address isn't resolved, the message, ‘Address not resolved’ is displayed. When you resolve the address, the activity location is displayed.
Alternative Locations This section is displayed if you've configured Google Maps as your map provider. The section shows the suggestions provided by Googles geocoding service, based on the Address, City, Postal Code, State, and Country field values. When possible, parts of the alternative address that differ from the original Address, City, Postal Code, State, and Country field values are highlighted in bold. You can copy any part of the alternative address from this section and paste it into the editable fields. The address section is updated when you open the page and also when you click Resolve. If there's no alternative address provided by the geoprovider, then this section isn't displayed.
  3. Click Resolve.
The changed address is resolved and the activity location is displayed on the map. This button becomes available only when you update one of the address fields.
  4. Click Apply.
The address that's shown and the coordinates that are obtained after you click Resolve are updated on the Activity Details page.
