About Oracle HCM Cloud

Oracle Fusion Field Service and Oracle Field Service both support integration with Oracle HCM Cloud, but they use different integration approaches and have different operational expectations.

Oracle Fusion Field Service

Oracle Fusion Field Service provides a native Oracle HCM Cloud integration for managing worker and resource information. When Oracle HCM Cloud is configured as an application within Oracle Fusion Field Service, Oracle Integration automatically activates the Oracle HCM - Oracle Fusion Field Service integration recipe.This integration synchronizes employee and resource information from Oracle HCM Cloud to Oracle Fusion Field Service, enabling the creation, update, suspension, and maintenance of field service resources based on HCM data. The integration is designed as a system-of-record model, where Oracle HCM Cloud remains the authoritative source for worker information.

Key characteristics include:
  • Oracle HCM Cloud is the master source for employee and resource data.
  • Resource information is synchronized from Oracle HCM Cloud to Oracle Fusion Field Service.
  • Changes made directly in Oracle Fusion Field Service are not automatically synchronized back to Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • The integration supports employee data synchronization, resource lifecycle management, work schedule synchronization, and login information updates.
Oracle Field Service

Oracle Field Service uses Oracle Integration accelerators and recipes to synchronize employee information from Oracle HCM Cloud into Oracle Field Service. Oracle provides the Oracle HCM Cloud - Oracle Field Service | Import Employee Details accelerator as a starting point for implementing this integration.Unlike Oracle Fusion Field Service, where HCM integration is part of the native application architecture, Oracle Field Service customers typically deploy and customize the Oracle Integration accelerator to meet their specific business requirements.

Key characteristics include:
  • Oracle HCM Cloud serves as the source of employee information.
  • Oracle Integration extracts employee data from Oracle HCM Cloud and updates Oracle Field Service resources.
  • The provided accelerator serves as a reference implementation that can be extended or customized.
  • Synchronization is generally one-way from Oracle HCM Cloud to Oracle Field Service unless additional custom integrations are developed.
Time and Labor Integration

Resource synchronization and labor reporting are separate integration processes. For Oracle Fusion Field Service, labor hours captured through the Debrief process can be posted to Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM Time and Labor when the appropriate Debrief Plugin and Oracle Time and Labor configuration are enabled. This capability applies to supported project-based activity scenarios and is independent of the worker synchronization integration.

Licensing and Prerequisites

To implement either integration scenario, organizations must maintain valid licenses for Oracle HCM Cloud and the applicable field service product. Oracle Integration is required for the synchronization processes described above. The integration synchronizes resource-related information from Oracle HCM Cloud to the field service application and does not provide automatic bidirectional synchronization back to Oracle HCM Cloud unless additional custom integrations are developed.

  • Bulk-extract the field mobile worker employee details from Oracle HCM Cloud to Oracle Fusion Field Service.
  • Extract employee work schedule details from Oracle HCM Cloud and update them in Oracle Fusion Field Service in a scheduled manner.
  • Create a new resource in Oracle Fusion Field Service when a new employee is created in Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • Update a resource in Oracle Fusion Field Service when an existing employee details are updated in Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • Suspend a resource in Oracle Fusion Field Service when an employee is deleted in Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • Fetch employee login details from Oracle HCM Cloud and update the details in Oracle Fusion Field Service. The integration fetches only the user’s login name and not the password.
