Are Oracle Fusion Field Service Forms supported in offline mode on the mobile application?

Yes, Oracle Fusion Field Service with Data Fields and Form Fields are generally supported in Offline Mode.

Offline Mode allows mobile workers to access, complete, and save Forms (including with Data Fields and Form Fields) even when lacking connectivity. All data is cached locally on the device. Offline Mode in Oracle Fusion Field Service enables mobile workers to continue working when connectivity is unavailable.

Forms, including those with Data Fields and Form Fields, can be accessed, filled out, and saved while offline.

All data entered in forms during offline periods will be cached locally on the device. Once the device reconnects to the network, these entries will be synchronized with the Oracle Fusion Field Service server.

Note:

Real-time validations, live lookups, or data population from external sources that require a live connection won’t function fully offline. Always advise mobile workers to sync their devices before going offline to ensure they have the latest form configurations.

Best Practices and Additional Guidance:

  • Use Native iOS and Android Apps: For optimal consistency and background sync capability, it is highly recommended to use the native Oracle Fusion Field Service app (available for iOS and Android). Native apps can sync data automatically in the background when connectivity resumes, even without user interaction.
  • Web App Limitation: The web app requires the user to be actively using the app for syncing; background sync is not supported as with the native app.
  • Expiration Period for Unsynced Data: Unsynced data stored on the device has an expiration period, which is configured in Business Rules and can be set for up to 999 hours (about 7 weeks).
  • Device Loss Scenario: If a user starts work on one device, goes offline, and then switches to a new device without ever reconnecting the original device, any unsynced data on the original device will be lost—it must connect online to sync.
