What should I do if I need to keep historical data or old files for more than two years?

Oracle Field Service is designed for speed and efficiency in managing your current and upcoming field operations. Storing an extremely large amount of historical data can slow down the system. To ensure the best performance, Oracle Field Service prioritizes recent operational data.

The way your files are stored and how long they remain in Oracle Field Service depends on the specific version of Oracle Field Service your organization uses:

  • If you are using a Oracle Field Service environment:

You can use the File properties feature to attach documents directly to records within Oracle Field Service.

Note: These files are generally kept within Oracle Field Service for up to two years. If you need to keep them for a longer period, you must use the Daily Extract feature to download and store them outside of Oracle Field Service. This lets you save them in your own secure storage for as long as your organization requires.
  • If you are using Oracle Fusion Field Service environments:

File properties are no longer used in Oracle Fusion Field Service environment.

Instead, your files are managed through Fusion Attachments or by leveraging Object Storage. These are robust solutions designed for more extensive and long-term storage of your documents or attachments.
