How do I cancel an activity?
You can cancel activities in Oracle Field Service based on their status and scheduling, with some actions varying depending on whether a mobile worker has activated their route.
1. Pending Activities:
-
Pending Scheduled Activities: You can cancel these activities up until the end of the overnight period on their Scheduled Day.
-
Pending Non-Scheduled Activities: You can cancel these activities indefinitely; there is no time limit.
2. Deleting Activities (Before Resource Activates Route):
-
An activity can be deleted up until the point a mobile worker activates their route. Deleting an activity completely hides it from the UI, similar to being cancelled internally.
3. Non-Pending Activities:
Once an activity is no longer pending (typically after a mobile worker has activated their route on the Scheduled Day), direct cancellation is usually not possible.
-
En Route Activities: You cannot directly cancel an En Route activity. However, you can convert it back to a Pending status by using the Stop Traveling action. Once it's pending, you can then cancel it.
-
Started Activities: A Started activity cannot be cancelled. If it cannot be completed, you can mark it as Not Done instead.
4. Finalized Activities (Cannot Be Cancelled or Not Done):
-
Activities that are already in a Completed, Cancelled, or Not Done status cannot be further cancelled or marked as Not Done.
