Work Skills

In Oracle Field Service a Work Skill may be a skill which a resource is qualified to perform – resource work skill or a skill which is required to perform an activity – activity work skill.

The following table describes the Work Skills.

Work Skills

Resource Work Skills

Activity Work Skills

Can be manually defined as part of resource information (Manage Application → Settings → Technician/Bucket info).

Work skills can be defined for buckets and resources that can execute activities.

Are automatically calculated in accordance with the work skill conditions (Manage Application → Company Settings → Work Skill Conditions).

Qualification level (from 1 to 100) can be defined for each work skill assigned to a resource.

Each work skill condition defines the Required Qualification level from 0 to 100 and the Preferable qualification level from 1 to 100.

Several work skills can be defined for each resource.

One activity can match several work skill conditions and have several work skills.

If no specific work skills are defined for a resource, it is treated as if the resource has all work skills defined for the company with 100 qualification.

If no work skill can be defined for an activity (it matches no work skill conditions), such activity will be processed by the Capacity Management API as part of 'Other activities'.

If a work skill is assigned to a resource that can execute activities, it is used to define which activities can be assigned to it.

An activity can be assigned only to the resource that has all skills required to perform the activity with the qualification level not less than required.

If a work skill is assigned to a bucket, the Capacity Management API will return data only for those work skills.

Activity can be placed in the bucket regardless of its work skills.
