You can configure and run different types of Financial Statement analysis. You can select a seeded financial statement, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement, or configure a Custom analysis.

You can select dimension members for the POV, or use the default members provided for the seeded financial statements. You also select a time series for the analysis: Periodic, Quarterly, Half Year, or Year-on-Year, and enter the number of prior months to use for comparison.

You can select an Activity Trigger that will trigger the Analysis generation, such as Consolidation, and select Anchor Dimensions, Fixed Dimensions, Ratios, and Exception Handling Algorithms based on the financial statement you selected.

To create a Financial Statement Analysis configuration:

  1. On the Home page, click Financial Analysis Hub, then select Configuration.

The Configuration page is displayed with a list of available configurations.

  2. Click Create.

  3. On the Types tab, from Analysis Type, select Financial Statement.

    Configure Analysis Types

    • Balance Sheet—out-of-the-box configuration for the Balance Sheet hierarchy

    • Income Statement—out-of-the-box configuration for the Income statement hierarchy

    • Cash Flow Statement—out-of-the-box configuration for the Cash Flow hierrachy

    • Custom—Select this to create a custom expression or custom hierarchy, for example, Product-specific or based on Geography.

  5. Enter a Name, and a Description for the configuration, then click Next.

  6. On the Settings tab, for POV Selection, if you are using one of the seeded Financial Statements, the POV has been provided by default. To select different members for the POV, click the Member Selector Analysis member selector icon button and select members.

Note that the Consol cube is selected by default, and cannot be changed.

For Scenario, Year, Period and Entity, you can select base or parent members, individual or multiple members including the use of function formulas.

To run the configuration, for Entity and Period, you can use parent level members, while for Scenario and Year you should select a single member at a time.

  7. From Activity Trigger, select the type of activity that will trigger the generation of the analysis content:

    • Manual—You can run the configuration manually at any time. After it is completed, the results are available on the Analysis page for the configuration.

    • Consolidation—If this is selected and the status of entities is Impacted, the analysis will be generated after you run the Consolidate rule for the configured POV.

    • Translation—If this is selected and the status of entities is Impacted, the analysis will be generated after you run the Translate rule for the configured POV.

    • Data Load/Delete (via Data Management, Forms, Smart View, or Journals)—If this is selected, the configuration will be generated for the specified POV with the Data Load or Data Delete process through Data Management, Smart View, Forms, or Journals.

  8. From Time Series, select an option, then select the number of prior months, quarters, half-years or years to include for comparison. The Time Series selection is based on the Period and Year member you selected for the POV.

For example, if the POV Period and Year selected are June 2026, when you select Periodic and specify 3 as the number of prior months, the analysis will be generated starting from June and including the three prior periods of May, April, and March.

    • Periodic—Select for comparison with prior months, then select the Number of Prior Months.

    • Quarterly—Select for comparison with prior quarters, then select the Number of Prior Quarters .

    • Half-Yearly—Select for comparison with prior half years. then select the Number of Prior Half-Years.

    • Yearly—Select for comparison with prior years. then select the Number of Prior Years.

  9. Click Next.

  12. From Exception Handling Algorithms, select an Exception Algorithm to calculate anomalies in data sets and see if your configuration is inside or outside the range.

The Exception Handling Algorithms that are available depend on which Financial Statement you selected, for example, Income Statement or Balance Sheet.

    • Z-Score: Z-Score (also known as the standard score) is a statistical method used to identify exceptions (outliers) in a dataset. It measures how far a data point is from the mean in terms of standard deviations.

    • Modified Z Score: The Modified Z-Score is an improved version of the Z-Score, designed to detect outliers more effectively, especially when data contains skewness or extreme values.

    • MAD (Mean Absolute Deviation): Mean Absolute Deviation is a statistical method that identifies the average distance between each data point and the mean of a dataset.

    • IQR Calculation: The Interquartile Range (IQR) is a measure of statistical dispersion that describes the range within which the central 50% of data points lie. It is calculated as the difference between the third quartile (Q3) and the first quartile (Q1).

IQR cannot be selected if the number of periods selected in the configuration is less than 3.

  13. When you have finished creating a configuration, click Save or Save and Run.

    • To save a configuration and run it later, click Save. The configuration is then displayed on the main Configurations list of available configurations, and you can run it at any time.

    • To run a configuration immediately after you create it, click Save and Run. The configuration is run and you can view the results of the generated analysis on the Analysis page. The configuration is also saved and added to the main Configurations list of available configurations.
