How Names for Batches and Journals Are Derived

Journal batches and journals must have names. If you don’t provide them, the application generates them automatically.

Here’s how the names are derived when you enter journals on the Create Journal page and leave the Journal Batch and Journal fields blank.

Name Attributes Used to Derive the Name Example
Batch Journal Source, Journal Batch ID, Current Date and Time Manual 254001 21-JAN-2022 13:49:19
Journal Journal Source, Journal Header ID, Current Date and Time Manual 373001 21-JAN-2022 16:49:19

Here’s how the names are derived when you run the Import Journals process and the REFERENCE1 and REFERENCE4 columns in the GL_INTERFACE table are blank.
