Overview of Cross-Validation Combination Sets in General Ledger

Use cross-validation combination sets to determine the valid account combinations that can be dynamically created as users enter transactions through the user interfaces, processes, or REST services in Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials.

Cross-validation combination sets are based on lists of child segment value combinations between two or more segments of a chart of accounts, up to a maximum of five segments. You can use cross-validation combination sets in conjunction with cross-validation rules and related value sets.

When users attempt to create a new account combination, the application checks for any account combination validation rules that are active and in effect. If you use different types of account combination validation rules for your chart of accounts, that is, cross-validation rules, cross-validation combination sets, and related value sets, then the account entered on the transaction or setup pages must pass all validation rules to be considered a valid account.

If existing account combinations violate active cross-validation combination sets, those account combinations continue to be valid. This scenario can occur if you have existing account combinations created before you activate a cross-validation combination set, or if you made incremental changes to active cross-validation combination sets.

Here’s a summary of the steps to set up and use cross-validation combination sets.

  1. Define the cross-validation combination set.
  2. Import cross-validation combinations.
  3. Download cross-validation combinations.
  4. Manage definitions of cross-validation combination sets.
Note: You must enable auditing to activate your cross-validation combination sets.
  5. Manage cross-validation combinations.
  6. Validate account combinations.
