How User-Defined Holds Are Released
The user configured rules are assessed for both the placement of the holds and release of the holds.
During the invoice validation, if the rules don't evaluate to true, the application automatically releases the hold that was placed on the invoice. Furthermore, if the hold is configured to allow manual release, users can manually release the hold at any time rather than waiting for the validation process to review and automatically remove it.
Automatic release for holds works only for holds that are placed by the application. If you want the application to evaluate manually-placed holds for automatic release, enable the Release Manual Holds option in the settings tab of the rules configuration template.
Considerations for Placing or Releasing Holds
The following requirements must be satisfied to place or release user-defined holds on Payables invoices.
- Invoice isn't in incomplete status. For example, incomplete invoices created from the IDR aren't applicable for evaluation of user-defined holds.
- Invoice source isn't One Time Payment.
- Invoices aren't created with status Validated in Payables. For example, Refunds from Receivables are created as Payment Request in Payables with validated status, and aren't applicable for evaluation of user-defined holds.
When a user manually releases a user-defined hold that was automatically placed by the application, then the application never automatically places the same hold again on that invoice.
