Merging Data Slices

You can schedule a job to merge incremental data slices of a cube. Fewer slices improve a cube’s performance. You can merge all incremental data slices into the main cube slice or merge all incremental data slices into a single data slice without changing the main cube slice. You can optionally remove cells that have a value of zero.

A Merge Data Slices job is automatically created and is available for you to schedule from the App Maintenance tab on the Jobs console.

To schedule a Merge Data Slices job:

  1. From the Home page, click Application, and then click Jobs.

  2. From the Jobs console, click the App Maintnenance tab.

  3. Click the checkbox next to the Merge Data Slices job to select it.

  4. With the job selected, click Actions icon in the Actions column, and select Schedule.

  5. In the Schedule Job dialog box, under Run Job, select either Run Now or Schedule.

  6. Review the details for the job, and then click Submit.
