Gratuity Entitlement for Qatar
Entitlements and gratuity payments are based on the Employer Type, Date of Commencement and Length of Service.
- Employer type is Private Sector and the employee isn't registered for social
insurance.
- Hire Date prior to 6th Jan 2005
For an employee hired prior to 6th January 2005, the entitlement is calculated as follows:
Length of Service Weeks of Salary to be Paid 0-5 years 21 days for each year or part year of service 5-10 years 28 days for each year or part year of service 10-20 years 35 days for each year or part year of service 20+ years 42 days for each year or part year of service - Hire date after 6th January 2005
Minimum service is 1 year, Gratuity isn't paid for service less than 1 year.
Entitlement is calculated as 3 weeks for each year, or part year of your service as long as the minimum service requirement is met and the employee isn't dismissed.

- Employer type is Government Sector and employee isn't registered for social
insurance.
- Qatari EmployeeMimimum service required to be entitled for gratuity payments is 1 year.
Length of Service Weeks of Salary to be Paid 0-5 Years 1 x monthly salary for each year or part year of service 5-10 Years 1.5 x monthly salary for each year or part year of service 10+ Years 2 x monthly salary for each year or part year of service - Non-Qatari Employee
Minimum service required to be entitled for gratuity is 1 year. The maximum limit on the number of months to be paid is 10 months.
Entitlement is calculated as 1 month for each year, or part year of service, as long as the minimum service requirement is met, and the employee hasn't been dismissed.

- Registered for Social InsuranceIf an employee in any sector is registered for social insurance then no gratuity is paid unless the length of service is greater than 20 years.
Length of Service Weeks of Salary to be Paid 20+ Years 1 x monthly salary for each year after 20 years 30+ Years 2 x monthly salary for each year after 30 years
