Drill Down from Event Action Notifications to Events

When an event that's included in an event action group is triggered, the application generates event action notifications for that worker. There's one notification raised for each event action included in that event action group.

You can view the event action notifications for a given worker on the Event Action Notifications page. This page displays details of the event action notifications such as Submission Method, Effective Date and Action Name. You can also sort and filter the events based on the time period you're considering.

When an event action notification is raised for a worker, it's in an Awaiting Processing status and is associated with the event. Any further events for the worker, which trigger the same event action, will be associated to the same event notification as long as it's in an awaiting processing status. The effective date of the event action notification corresponds to the earliest event date. Once the event action completes successfully, the application updates the status of the event action notification to Completed. Any further event for the worker triggers a new event action notification.

When you click on the event action notification, you can drill down to the page that shows all the events associated with that event action notification. Here, you can view details of the events such as the type of change, when the change occurred, and who made the change. You can also view how many notifications were triggered by each event.

Let's consider a scenario where a restaurant manager notices the time card for one of his direct reports, Vijay Singh, was resubmitted for approval. He contacts the payroll administrator to understand what triggered this resubmission of his time card. The payroll administrator searches for Vijay's details on the Event Action Notifications page for the period that the resubmission was reported. He notices that there is an event action notification for time card resubmission effective 01 Feb in a completed status. In order to understand which events triggered the resubmission of the time card, the administrator drills down and finds two events:

  • An update to Vijay's bargaining unit effective 01 Feb.

  • Transfer to a different department effective 01 Mar.

This way you can visualize the impact of an event and the underlying cause of an event notification to ensure that there are no pending actions for the worker.
