Action Reason

You can optionally associate reasons with actions, which is primarily useful for analysis and reporting purposes.

For example, a generic action of termination could have reasons such as voluntary retirement or involuntary layoff. You can view the action and reason details in the Employee Termination Report. Line managers can view predictions about who's likely to leave voluntarily, which are based on existing and historical terminations data.

The process that generates the predictions uses the action and reason data to identify whether a termination is voluntary or involuntary. When managers allocate compensation to their workers, they can select from a list of action reasons that help identify the type of or reason for the compensation allocation.

To create your own action reasons, use the Action Reasons quick action under My Client Groups > Workforce Structures on the Home page.

You can specify the code, name, and description when you create the action reason. You can't specify the action reason start date and end date because these dates are internally defaulted by the application as 1-Jan-1951 and 31-Dec-4712 respectively. You can't create an action reason while creating an action.

You can then associate the action reason with an action when creating the action or updating it. When you associate an action reason with an action, you can do these things:
  • Select the countries for which you can associate the action and action reason.
  • Select the roles that can see the action reason during worker transactions.
  • Select the duration (start date and end date) for which the action reason will remain associated with the action.

You can associate the same action reason with multiple actions or with a specific action according to your business need. This makes the action reason list as global and reduces the effort of creating multiple action reasons.

The country you select for the action reason must match with any one of the countries selected for the action.

Country and Role-Specific Action and Action Reasons

You can make the action and action reason country-specific or role-specific on employment pages by selecting the required country or role when you configure the action and action reason. After the configuration, the employment pages will display the action and action reason that are specific to the worker's legal employer country or logged in user's role.

You can set the default assignment status for an employment-related action. To do this, ensure that all countries associated with the assignment status match the countries associated with the action type. After you configure, the employment pages will default the assignment status for the selected action type.

Note:
  • If you want to keep the action and action reason global and not specific to any country or role, don't select any value for the country or role. The blank value signifies that the action or action reason is applicable for all countries.
  • The country and role you selected for the action reason must match with any one of the countries or roles for the action.
