Considerations for Loading Person Photos

You can load employees' photos in the employee's public information page, from the Change Photo quick action on the Me tab, or the HCM Data Loader. Employees can also upload their own photos using the person spotlight window.

In this topic, you will learn about the important considerations to note when loading person photos.

Employee Personal Health Data

Before loading employee photos, consider whether the photos might create an unintended connection to employee's personal health data. Privacy and security protections in your country may apply.

Include or Exclude Photos

To upload multiple photos at a time use the Worker object in the HCM Data Loader.

When uploading the photo,

  • Ensure that the file size is less than 20 megabytes.

  • Upload a photo in any format, but the typical format is either a .png or .jpeg file.

  • Ensure that the photo dimensions are 90 x 120 pixels to help reduce the distortion of photo. If the photo isn't 90 x 120 pixels, it's recommended to maintain a 3 x 4 aspect ratio.

If you want to disable workers from uploading photos, you must either remove the related security privilege from the Worker role or hide the photo section using page composer.

Note: Contact your administrator to remove the security privilege.

Shape of Photo Section

To set the shape of the photo section, you must specify a value in the PER_PERSON_IMAGE_DISPLAY profile option. You can set the value for this profile as Circle or Square.

Caching Images

To cache person photos to improve performance of pages that display many images, for example, organization chart, you must specify Y in the PER_IMAGE_ENABLE_CACHING profile option. You can also choose not to cache photos especially if people at your site use kiosks to access the application.
