Create Shift, Break, and Meal Web Clock Buttons

You want people to use Web Clock to report time for 8-hr shifts that include short breaks and a meal break. So you create web clock buttons that store values for the related clock event and Payroll Time Type attribute.

You can reuse the short break buttons, so you only create them once. Use the Time Entry Layout Components task in the Setup and Maintenance work area. The task is part of the Workforce Deployment offering, Time and Labor functional area.
  1. Create the web clock buttons.
    1. On the Layout Components page, click the Create button.
    2. On the Create Layout Component dialog box, select Web clock buttons.
    3. Click OK.
  2. Enter the general properties.
    1. On the Create Web Clock Buttons: Buttons Definition page, in the Name field, enter 8-Hr Shift Clock Events.
    2. In the Description field, enter Uses the independent Payroll Time Type, Start Property, and End Property attributes, and the dependent Department time attribute.
  3. Add the time attributes, data sources, and filters.
    1. On the toolbar, click Add Time Attribute.
    2. On the Add Time Attribute dialog box, complete the fields for the Payroll Time Type time attribute, as shown here. Use default values unless otherwise specified.

    3. Click OK.
    4. Repeat steps a through c until you added all three time attributes to the attribute definition.
  4. On the Create Web Clock Buttons: Buttons Definition page, add rows to the attribute definition and complete the fields, as shown here.

  5. In the Display Properties section, select Enable override on layouts.

    The remaining steps apply only if you’re in a nonunified time entry experience. If you've a unified experience, click Create.

  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Create Web Clock Buttons: Dependent Field Definition page, you can also define dependent fields for the independent Payroll Time Type time attribute. Other examples provide details on how you can create dependent rate, cost segment, and location fields for this independent time attribute.
  8. Click Next.
  9. On the Create Time Card Field: Review page, review the definition details for the independent and any dependent fields. If you need to, go back and make any necessary changes.
  10. When the configuration is correct, click Save and Close.
  11. On the Confirmation dialog box, click OK.
