Create the Dependent Meal Override Rate and Rate Periodicity Fields

You want to let managers override the meal allowance as appropriate, so you create two dependent fields for the independent Payroll Time Type attribute.

The Meal Override Rate field lets them override the person's default rate. The Meal Rate Periodicity field ensures proper processing after the overridden rate transfers to Global Payroll.

Before you start

Create the Meals Taken element.

Here's what to do

1. Create both dependent rate fields by completing these steps twice, once for each field.
   1. In the General Properties section, click the Create icon.
   2. On the Create Dependent Time Card Field dialog box, complete these steps:
      1. In the Name field for the first field you're creating, enter MealOvrrdRt. For the second field you're creating, enter MealRtPdcty.
      2. In the Independent Time Attribute field, select Payroll Time Type.

      3. In the Dependent Time Attribute field, click Search.

         1. On the Search and Select: Time Attributes dialog box, in the Name field, enter Rate. The default search results level is General, which is what you want for these attributes.
         2. In the search results section, select Rate Amount of the collection InputValue.
         3. Click OK.
      4. On the Create Dependent Time Card Field dialog box, enter the description.

         Dependent Field	Description
         MealOverrdRt	Override the default meal allowance.
         MealRtPdcty	Rate periodicity for the override rate of the meal allowance.

      5. In the Availability section, select For specific independent time attribute values.
      6. In the Independent Time Attribute Value field, select Meals Taken.
      7. Click OK.
2. Define the data sources and display properties.
   Repeat steps a through c twice, once for each dependent field.

   1. In the General Properties section, select the dependent field that you're defining.
   2. Select the data sources, as shown here.

   3. Complete the display properties, as shown here.

   4. For MealOvrrdRt, select Enable override on layouts.
   5. For MealOvrrdRt, in the Required on the Time Card field, select No.
   6. Repeat steps 1 through 3 once, to define these properties for the dependent MealRtPdcty field.
3. Click Next to open the Review page.
