Basic Benefit Information Common Attributes

Some benefits require very little information to process and calculate the cash equivalent taxable amount.

This information is common across these benefit types and covers these benefit types:

  • Vouchers and Credit Cards
  • Private Medical Treatment or Dental Insurance
  • Service Supplied
If you have created the calculation card for any of these benefit types, you can enter the common attributes in Basic Benefit Information.

Field Description
Reporting or Processing

Complete this field only if the option at the organization level is Payroll Processing but the benefit will now be reported on P11D.

Once it is set to P11D Reporting, you cannot change this back to Payroll Processing for the tax year.
Available from Date Date from when the benefit needs to be processed in the payroll run.
Available to Date Date until when the benefit needs to be processed in payroll. After this date the, benefit processing will end and appropriately prorated to ensure calculation of correct taxable value.
Cost to You or Amount Foregone

A value between 0 to 9999999.99

For P11D benefit, the value should be the total annual value. For benefits processed, this is the value of the benefit provided as given at the time. If it's an annual amount, set the Tax Processing Rule to tax across remaining payroll periods.

If there is an amount foregone by the employee, enter this amount or the cost to employer, whichever is higher.
Is the cost to you an annual amount If your benefit year is from January to December, select this option to ensure the calculation of the benefit for the tax year is correct.
Amount Made Good A value between 0 to 9999999.99
Tax Processing Rule

This field only applies to benefits that are processed through payroll.

The default is taxed in the next available payroll period.
