Payroll Process Level Rules

This topic provides details of the payroll processes that support sequence and interlock rules.

For example, as given in this table, sequence rules prevent the calculation of payroll when the employee has later-dated payroll results for one of the following processes: Calculate Payroll, QuickPay, Reversal. Balance Adjustment, Retropay or Retrocosting.

An example of an interlock rule is that the payments process is locked when the payment results for an employee are included in a void or costing of payments process.

These are some exceptions to the rules shown in this table, as given here.

• Balance Adjustment and Reversals are sequenced processes, but can be executed on any date even if the sequenced actions can exist with a later date. In other words, it's possible to Roll Back or Retry a relationship action for these processes.
• Reversals can't be rolled back or marked for retry if they have been operated by a Retropay (or if interlocked).
• Retrocosting can't be rolled back or marked for retry if it's sequenced and locked by other later Retrocosting or Reversal processes.
