Shift Types, Codes, and Categories in Workforce Scheduling

Ensure the accuracy of your workforce schedules by defining and managing shift types for your workloads and shifts, such as On-Call and Regular. And use premium shift codes to further qualify the shift type.

Also let schedulers easily to find relevant shifts using shift categories, such as Day, Evening, and Night.

Shift types can be on-call or work, and work shift types also have productivity percentages.

  • Schedulers can generate schedules based on shift type, for example, generating on-call schedules that have only shifts with the On-Call shift type. Schedulers can also see and edit the shift type.

Add shift types using the Manage Extended Lookup Codes task in the Setup and Maintenance work area. The extended names are what people see on the various shift and scheduling pages.

You can further qualify shift types with premium shift codes. Add your codes to the ORA_HWM_PREMIUM_SHIFT_CODE lookup type and the Manage Common Lookups task in the Setup and Maintenance work area. Add shift categories in the ORA_HTS_SHIFT_CATEGORY lookup type.
