State Family and Medical Leave Act Benefits

Some states have enacted laws that mandate additional family and medical leave (FMLA) for workers.

When implementing state FMLA, you must configure the following.

  • Legal jurisdiction

    If you're doing business in one of the participating states, refer the absence plan to the jurisdiction of the work location and the employee's home location.

  • Length of service

    Set the appropriate state-specific levels of service.

  • Number of hours worked

    Set the appropriate levels of hours worked.

  • More qualified dependents

    Some states extend the concept of family to include more relationships than recognized by the federal law. Responsibility falls directly on the employee to certify relationships. Administrative users must ensure that the relationships are qualified under either federal or relevant state FMLA.
