Overview of Seniority Dates

You can define, manage and use the seniority of workers using version 3 or version 1 of the seniority dates functionality.

You can configure V3 seniority dates using the Configure Seniority Dates task and a fast formula. You can manage them using the Seniority Dates task under Quick Actions.

Which seniority dates can be managed?

Only the following seniority dates:

  • Enterprise Seniority Date
  • Legal Employer Seniority Date

Customers can configure the seniority dates at different levels, such as Person, Work Relationship, and Assignment for the following attributes:

  • Collective Agreement
  • Country
  • Department

Can the seniority dates be entered during Hire flows? Yes

No. However, refer to this MOS document for an alternate solution:

How are seniority dates calculated? Manually entered or Manually updated Automatically calculated when the following ESS job is run: Calculate Seniority Dates
Is the seniority calculated in real time? N/A No, the following ESS job must be run regularly to recalculate the seniority dates: Calculate Seniority Dates
How are the seniority dates updated or adjusted? Manually on the Work Relationship UI

Additionally, manual adjustments can be entered for the seniority dates on the Seniority Dates UI.

The Legal Employer Seniority Date is 1-May-2018 and needs to be updated to 1-Apr-2018. How is the seniority date updated in this case? The Legal Employer Seniority Date is corrected to 1-Apr-2018. Provide an adjustment of 30 days for the configured Legal Employer Seniority Date. This will update the seniority date to 1-Apr-2018 when the ESS job is run.
Do you need to configure seniority dates?

No configuration is required.

Note: If you want to default the enterprise seniority date as the first hire date, you must set the Default Enterprise Seniority Date employment configuration option to Yes at the enterprise level.

Can Fast Formula be used to calculate seniority dates? No

Yes

These formula types are supported:

  • Employment Seniority Date Adjustment
  • Employment Seniority Hours to Days Conversion
Do you need to update any worker assignment before the data migration? No

Yes

Update the seniority basis for all worker assignment records to the appropriate values in days or hours. You can do this using HCM Data Loader.
Do you need to run any process post data migration? No

Run the following ESS job to calculate the seniority dates for workers: Calculate Seniority Dates

This ESS job needs to be run regularly or scheduled to recalculate the seniority dates for workers.

What are the considerations when uploading worker assignments? None

You must provide a value of ORA_PER_SNDT_DAYS for the Seniority Basis attribute.
