Process to Migrate to Version 3 Termination or Redwood Experience

You run the Migrate Employment Data process to migrate the existing version 2 (V2) termination data to the new version 3 (V3).

You must run this process before you perform termination or resignation using the Terminate Employment or Resign from Employment quick actions. Use the Scheduled Processes work area to schedule and run the process.

Points to Consider

  • Before you migrate to V3, you must first disable V2 termination. If you migrate before disabling V2 termination, you will receive an error message when you try to access V2 termination.
  • You can run the process only once to migrate V2 termination data to the new V3. In principle, after you migrate to V3, you can’t revert to V2.
  • Before you decide to opt for the new V3 termination in a production environment, you must first thoroughly test the feature in a stage environment.
  • If you decide to revert to V2 in the stage environment, you can do so by using the Migrate to V2 Termination diagnostic test. This test can only be run in a stage environment and not in a production environment. For more information about the diagnostic test, refer to this document on My Oracle Support: Migrate to V2 Termination (Doc ID 2851332.1)
  • The Migrate to V2 Termination diagnostic test is intended for use only in stage environments and not production environments. Oracle is not responsible for any possible data corruption or loss of data integrity if the diagnostic test is run in a production environment.
  • The Migrate to V3 Termination process migrates both termination and resignation data from V2 to V3.
    • You can’t just migrate termination data to V3 and retain resignation data in V2.
    • Similarly, you can’t just migrate resignation data to V3 and retain termination data in V2.

Migrate to Redwood from Version 2

To use the Redwood user experience, you need to migrate to V3 first. Here's how you can do that:
  1. Complete all pending transactions before you migrate to Version 3.
  2. Enable the profile options for Redwood Terminate Employment and Resign from Employment pages. For more information, see Redwood Experience for Terminate Employment and Resign from Employment pages.
  3. Configure Approval Rules for Resign From Employment & Terminate Employment.
  4. Run the Migrate Employment Data process using the Migrate to V3 Termination parameter. Here’s how you submit and verify the migration process:
    1. Go to Tools > Scheduled Processes.
    2. Select Schedule New Process.
    3. Retain the default Job selection for Type.
    4. In the Name field, search and select the Migrate Employment Data process, and select OK two times.
    5. In the Which run mode do you want to select? field, select Migrate to V3 Termination.
    6. Review the selected process and run mode. Optionally, select Notify me when this process ends or add submission notes, and select Submit.
    7. Make a note of the ESS process ID in the confirmation dialog box so that you can monitor the correct request and select OK.
    8. On the Overview page, search for the Migrate Employment Data request using the recorded process ID, and refresh the results as needed.
    9. Select the Migrate Employment Data row in the search results. On the Process Details tab, verify these values:
      1. Process name and ID: Migrate Employment Data, process ID
      2. Status: Succeeded
      3. Parameter run mode: Migrate to V3 Termination
