How do I change an approval rule for transactions that get a null value error?

Title and music.

In this video I’ll show you how to edit an approval rule to add a condition that checks for null values.

Please note that the automatic null check that I’m going to demonstrate is available only in the Change Personal Information approval flow.

Begin by going to the Transaction Console.

On the console, go to Approval Rules.

I’ll find the rule by searching on the process for the rule.

In this example my rule is for the Change Personal Information process.

Next, I’ll click Configure Rules for that process.

I’ll select the rule that should have the null value checks.

Then I’ll Configure Rule Conditions.

In the Condition Details, I’ll select the rule Automatically build a null condition.

To build the null condition, I’ll click Edit Selection.

And then Click OK.

I’ll confirm that I want to add a check for null values, click Yes.

Notice that the condition now checks for null values.

Now I’ll close the condition details and Save the rule.
