How do I  configure the person spotlight area in HCM Experience Design Studio?

Title and music.

In this video, I’ll show you how to remove a function in the Person Spotlight area which allows employees and users to view various personal information.

First, let’s take a look in more detail at the Person Spotlight area. Navigate from the Me page, to Public Info and Show More to view the options.

On the Home page, click Me.

In the Quick Actions section, click Public Info.

Click Show More.

Here you can view over 50 employee related functions that can be accessed including Performance and Family and Emergency Contacts.

In our example, we will hide the Payroll Information in External Payroll function on this page since our organization doesn't use an external payroll. Notice this option is listed between the My Payslips and Payslips options. In order to make this change, you will need to create a sandbox and ensure the HCM Experience Design Studio tool is selected.

On the Home page, click the Navigator icon.

Expand the Configuration section.

In the Configuration section, click Sandboxes.

On the right side of the page, click Create Sandbox.

On the Sandboxes page on the Available Sandboxes tab, click Create Sandbox.

On the Create Sandbox page in the Name field, enter a name for the sandbox.

In the Publishable field, select Yes.

For the HCM Experience Design Studio tool, select the check box.

Click Create and Enter.

Once in the sandbox, navigate to the HCM Experience Design Studio using the Tools menu.

In the Tools menu, select HCM Experience Design Studio.

Once you access the design studio, the items on the left pane give you several configuration options. Click Person Spotlight to get started.

On left pane, click Person Spotlight.

The Person Spotlight page will list the components we saw earlier on the Public Info page. Locate the Payroll Information in External Payroll component. To change the visibility of this component simply click on the Edit icon.

For the Payroll Information in External Payroll component, click the Edit icon.

On the Visible field, you can choose to hide the component by selecting No or write an expression to display or not display based on certain conditions. I’ll select No so this function will not be visible to employees. Click Save and Done.

In the Visible drop-down list, select No.

Click Save.

Click Done.

Once the changes are saved, you can preview the change by accessing the page where the change was made.

On the Home page, click Me.

In the Quick Actions section, click Public Info.

Click Show More.

Now the component that was hidden is no longer visible on the list.

Verify that the Payroll Information in External Payroll component is no longer visible between the My Payslips and Payslips components.

Once you are happy with your changes, go to the menu on the top left and Publish the sandbox to make your changes available for all users.
