How do I set up payroll flow pattern connectors?
Title and music.
In this video, I’ll explain how to use flow pattern connectors to consolidate payroll flows.
To consolidate two or more payroll flows using flow pattern connectors, you need to configure the flow connector options, such as connector status and connected flows.
Let’s say that I’m going to create a flow pattern and connect another flow to it to consolidate the results of both flows.
For example, Flow Pattern A could be monthly payroll and Flow Pattern B could be monthly costing.
I first need to go to the Payroll work area.
From the Home page, click My Client Groups.
In the Apps section, click Payroll.
Then in the Administration section, select Payroll Flow Patterns.
I’ll then choose to create a new flow.
On the Payroll Flow Patterns page, in the Search Results section, click the Actions menu.
Select Create.
At the prompt, I’ll select the desired Legislative Data Group.
Click Continue.
There are many steps to creating a payroll flow pattern, which are displayed at the top of the page. However, we are only focusing on those steps that allow flow patterns to be connected.
In the Basic Information section, I’ll give the flow pattern a name and description.
I’ll select whether the LDG is required.
And since only active flows are available for submission on the submit flow page, I’ll select Active for the Flow Status field.
Use the default Task Flow option in the Connector Status field to indicate that the flow pattern should include payroll results from tasks within the flow, plus results from any connected flows.
The Connector Name indicates the name used to identify the flow pattern for the purpose of flow connector rules.
This field is defaulted to the name of your flow pattern and will display after clicking the Next button.
In the Connected Flows section, click the Add icon.
Search for and select the connector name of each flow pattern you want to connect to yours.
These connector rules are automatically applied each time you submit the flow.
In the Connector Status field, if you select Task Flow and flow connector rules are defined, the flow includes results from tasks within the flow plus results from any connected flows. Again, Task Flow is the default value.
Finally, complete remaining steps of the flow pattern. Repeat this configuration for any connected flow patterns.
Submit a flow which processes that flow and all connected flow patterns. Then view the results in the checklist.
To edit an existing flow, you can search by the Flow Pattern and the Legislative Data Group fields to locate it.
From the Home page, click My Client Groups.
In the Apps section, click Payroll.
On the Payroll page in the Administration section, click Payroll Flow Patterns.
For this example, in the Search section, in the Flow Pattern field, enter your Expedited Payroll Flow.
In the Legislative Data Group field, select US Legislative Data Group.
Click Search.
Click Expedited Payroll Flow.
Then select the Connected Flows tab.
And click Edit to create flow connector rules.
On the Payroll Flow Patterns page, click the Connected Flows tab.
Click Edit.
In the Actions menu, click Add.
