Recommend Career Roles Using Recommendation Profiles

Career roles can be recommended alongside learning items when creating or updating recommendation profiles. This feature enables administrators and managers to deliver more targeted career development guidance.

If the ORA_WLF_RECOM_IGNORE_LEARNER_ENGMT profile option is set to N, recommendations are created only for those users who aren't already engaged with the career role. If it's set to Y, recommendations are created for all users, regardless of prior engagement.
  1. Go to My Client Groups > Learning and Development > Recommendations.
  2. Add a recommendation profile.
  3. On the New Recommendation Profile page, enter a name and summary for the recommendation profile.
  4. From the Profile Type list, select the option, Select specific resources.
  5. Select Career role recommendations as a recommendation category.
  6. Add resources to recommend.
    1. Select Career Roles from the Resources list.
    2. Select the career roles that you want to recommend.

      Only roles linked to active job profiles are available for selection. This ensures that recommendations remain timely and relevant. Multiple career roles can be added to a single recommendation profile, with built-in safeguards to prevent duplicates. Inactive roles are marked with a badge.

  7. In the Recipient info section, select the sender of this recommendation, and add recommendation comments as needed.
  8. Schedule the recommendation as one-time or recurring.
  9. Add the audience who will get the recommendations.
  10. Save the recommendation profile.

Results:

When the recommendation profile completes running, the career role recommendations appear on the Grow and Opportunity Marketplace pages, providing targeted guidance when users explore development opportunities.

What to do next

If any career roles become inactive, run the recommendation profile again to withdraw the associated recommendations.
