Campaign personalization

Campaign personalization allows you to send campaign emails to customers with personalized variables in the message such as their name or email address. When you create a segment in Oracle Audience Segmentation, you can include these personalized variables when you export the segment to a marketing orchestration tool such as Oracle Responsys.

Here are some examples of campaign personalization that you may use when creating a segment in Oracle Audience Segmentation:

  • The details of the customer's most recent order.
  • Items that the customer recently added to their online cart.

Personalization attributes

Campaign personalization in Oracle Audience Segmentation is managed through the use of Personalization attributes. Learn more about Managing Personalization attributes.

If there are multiple matching values for a personalization attribute, only unique values of the personalization attribute will be included in the exported segment. In the example below, the following personalization attributes are used: First name, Last name, Age, and Brand. The customer has ten different orders and three unique brands purchased. Since there are only three unique brands across the ten orders, only three rows would be exported with the segment with each unique brand in the Brand column (Brand A, Brand B, and Brand C).

First name Last name Age Brand
Peter Wells 30 Brand A
Peter Wells 30 Brand B
Peter Wells 30 Brand C

Static personalization attributes

If you want to include data in a segment export that is not from the Oracle Audience Segmentation data model, you can use static personalization attributes. The name you give the static attribute will be the column name added to the exported segment data. The value you enter for the static attribute will be the static info added to each record for the segment.

Example: You create a segment for a specific campaign and you want the exported segment data to be labeled with the campaign ID. You create a static personalization attribute with the name Campaign ID (the column name) and the value Winter2019-US-CA-34. The exported table of records for the segment will have a column added labeled Campaign ID and each record will have the specific campaign ID (Winter2019-US-CA-34) added for that column.

First name Last name Email Campaign ID
Mary Jones mary@email.com Winter2019-US-CA-34
John Smith john@email.com Winter2019-US-CA-34
Steven Edwards steve@email.com Winter2019-US-CA-34
