Tracking links to external websites

Tracking clickthroughs is an important part understanding the performance of your campaigns and emails. The hyperlink manager allows you to view all the external links that included in an email or landing page. You can then use the manager to enable or disable tracking of these external links.

For example, an email contains the following links:

  • A link to an Oracle Eloqua landing page
  • A link to your company's website
  • A link to an external website hosted by a third-party

By default, the landing page is tracked by Oracle Eloqua. Links to third-party websites are tracked for the Design Editor but not for the Source Editor. If your organization deployed Oracle Eloqua tracking scripts, your company's website is also tracked.

Note: Links to files in the file storage component library are tracked by default.

To manage link tracking:

  1. Open an existing HTML or Design Editor email or landing page.
  2. Click Actions, then click Manage Links.

Note: The hyperlink manager is no longer available in the Classic Design Editor. Learn more about differentiating between asset types.

The Hyperlink Manager window opens showing all the external links in your asset.

  3. Turn tracking on or off using the Track check box. To track all the links, click Track All.

Tip: Don't turn on tracking if the external website is being tracked by Oracle Eloqua tracking scripts. Tracking links to websites that are tracked by Oracle Eloqua scripts will double the web page visits counts.

  4. Click Done.
