About Data Warehouse Transformations

Data Warehouse Transformations provides an interface for designing and managing data transformations within Fusion Unity Data Platform (UDP). It helps organizations create a trusted customer profile by ingesting, cleansing, enriching, and transforming data before making it available for business users and downstream applications.

As part of UDP, the Data Warehouse feature stores curated, analytics-ready data objects that support reporting, segmentation, and activation. You can use the Visual Editor for Data Warehouse Transformations to create data transformations that run after data ingestion.

The visual editor lets you refine and prepare data after it has been loaded into the warehouse. This approach supports multistage data processing by separating data standardization during ingestion from business-specific enrichment within the warehouse.

Key Features of Data Warehouse Transformations

Transformations allow data engineers to preprocess, clean, enrich, filter, and join data during the data ingestion process before it's used for segmentation and activation. Some key features include:
  • Transformations support joins, filters, expressions, and attribute mapping without requiring users to manually write SQL.
  • Published, active transformations execute automatically as part of Data Warehouse jobs.
  • Execution order is configurable when multiple transformations target the same object.
  • The platform includes built-in safeguards through role-based access, supported SQL functions/operators, and limits on joins and active transformations.

User Roles

The feature is available to users with the following roles:

  • Data Engineer
  • Data Master
  • Instance Admin
