Changing the traffic percentage for my campaign

Traffic allocation is the percentage of visitors that enter your campaign. By default, 100% of visitors are included in your campaign.

Important: If you have a risky test, consider limiting the percentage of visitors entered into your test before exposing all of your visitors.

In the following example, the Targeting tab is used to restrict this campaign to only 40% of the eligible traffic:

If you change the percentage of traffic mid-test, you should apply date filtering when analyzing data in corresponding reports. The start date should be the day after you publish the traffic allocation change.

Example: The following scenario describes what happens to returning visitors if you change the traffic allocation during a campaign:

WeekTraffic allocationImplications
110% of visitors can enter the campaign90% of site visitors are not allowed into the campaign.
2100% of visitors can enter the campaignIf a visitor was not allowed into the campaign in week 1, they are still excluded during week 2 despite the increased traffic allocation.

Visitors will be excluded from the campaign in week 2 if they visited the site during week 1 and fell in the 90% bucket of visitors who did not see the campaign.
