Email message settings

Use the Settings option to override the instance-wide settings for email messages.

Here, you can specify default values for email messages:

  • From Name: the default sender name for all messages.
  • From Email Address: the default email address to be used as the From Address for all messages. This address is used whenever a bounced email message is returned to the sender because, for some reason, it could not be delivered to the designated recipient.
  • Reply To: the default email address to be used whenever an email recipient replies to a message.
  • BCC: optionally, you can choose the BCC addresses to use as the default BCC recipients.

Important: Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) is an add-on feature that must be ordered for your account. Please contact your account manager or Oracle sales.

  • Send message with UTF-8 encoding: specify whether to send messages with UTF-8 encoding.
  • Insert List-Unsubscribe email header in message: this is considered a best practice by major ISPs.
  • Custom X-Headers: allow you to place additional information in an email message. X-Headers might be required in a variety of situations, ranging from authentication services to inbox monitoring services.
  • Footer: within the message settings you may decide whether or not you would like to include the default footer settings. To configure what the actual default footer is, see the Settings page.
  • Track Opens: enabling this option allows Responsys Express to track how many contacts opened a message and how many times it was opened. These are called opens.

Note: Make sure that each message that is tracking opens includes a body tag.

  • Track Clicks: enabling this option allows Responsys Express to track which links in a message were clicked and how many times they were clicked. These are called recipient clicks. With link tracking enabled, every time you add new links to your message, Responsys Express will ensure that they are tracked.

Note: If the links are generated using our personalization scripting language (Marketing Personalization Language (MPL)), those links won’t be tracked.

  • External Tracking: allows you to append tracking parameters from third-party providers to all the links in your message. You can enable this setting if the default tracking parameters were set up in your Settings.

Note: If Track Clicks is not enabled for a message, then External Tracking cannot be enabled. To perform external tracking, you have to be tracking your clicks.
