Impacts of enabling or disabling STO

In this topic, you'll learn more about the impacts of enabling or disabling Send Time Optimization (STO) for your account.

Enabling STO

When you enable the STO feature for your account:

  • The standard Send Time Optimization PETs for email and push are automatically created for each profile list in your account after you enable STO. These PETs have the name scheme STO_Email_<profile list name> (for Email channel) and STO_Push_<profile list name> (for Push channel), and they have a data schema specific to the STO feature.
  • Responsys will automatically update data in the standard STO PETs.
  • The Send time optimization stage is added to the Switches section of the Program palette.

Disabling STO

When you disable STO for your account:

  • Data updates of the standard STO PETs will stop. Your programs can continue using the existing data, but the data will become progressively stale over time.
  • The Send time optimization stage is removed from the Switches section of the Program palette.
  • For programs that still have Send time optimization switches in them after the feature is disabled, the program routing will use the Timeout path. You can update your affected programs to use a data switch instead.
