Setting Up Soft-Bounce Parameters

The settings on the Soft bounce processing page determine the number of soft bounces for email and SMS within a given period that will trigger suppression of an address in your distribution list. Once messages sent to a given address have bounced the specified number of times within the specified period, that address is recorded in the ~System#SoftBounced table. Recipients classified as soft bounced will be declassified as such after the specified number of days. For example, recipients classified as soft bounced based on a rule 30 bounces in 45 days will start receiving messages again after 45 days.

To select the soft bounce processing settings:

  1. From the side navigation bar, select Account . (If you do not see the side navigation bar, click the Menu button (aka Hamburger menu) icon.)
  2. Select Campaign management, and then select Soft bounce processing. (Not seeing this choice? Refer to the Account management changes topic.)

The Soft bounce processing page is displayed.

Important: To activate soft-bounce suppression for your account, you must make a selection on the Email and/or SMS tabs on this page.

  3. Click Email, and then choose the setting that most closely matches the frequency with which you contact a typical recipient by email.
  4. Click SMS, and then choose the setting that most closely matches the frequency with which you contact a typical recipient by SMS.
  5. When finished, click Save.

With soft-bounce suppression activated, the #SoftBounced table is used as a suppression list for every launch.

The listed extractions are the dates on which the bounce records are polled to create the #SoftBounced table.
