Get started with the Customization section

The Customization section provides a convenient, centralized location to review and customize the QuickStart data model customization elements. Users with the administrator access profile or the additional Customization: create fields and segments permission set assigned can customize records. Having access to all customized elements that affect the record data model in one location can be useful, for example, if you want to review and manage multiple customizations, search all customizations, view details about customizations, and more. Alternatively, you can customize fields and segments from the menu of a given record transaction entry, such as a sales order, or any other record entry.

To access the Customization section, open Menu > Administration > Customization. Select Fields or Segments, depending on what you want to customize. You can search existing customizations, view details, create fields or segments, manage where fields are applied, and edit or delete supported customizations. For segments, you can also copy them or set them as inactive or active.

To switch between customization types, use the Customization parent link on the page to return to the Customization section.

For example, let’s say your company sells exercise bikes, and you want to collect information about what accessories your customers would be interested in learning more about. You want to use checkbox fields so customers can select all that apply. You’re not sure, however, if suitable fields might already exist. In this case, you could go to the custom fields page in the Customization section to view a list of all existing custom fields. You can search and filter the list to narrow down your search for the field. If the field already exists, you can view the details, and if necessary, make edits. For example, you might want to reuse an existing checkbox field by applying it to another field that will use the same checkbox field. Alternatively, if the field doesn’t already exist, you can create it here.
