Get started with managing credit card transactions
Use Menu > Banking > Cash management > Bank & credit card reconciliation to review imported credit card activity and reconcile each transaction by matching it, categorizing it as an expense, or recording a credit card payment. QuickStart can suggest matches and categories, but you review each suggestion before confirming it to avoid duplicate transactions.
Open Menu, select Banking, select Cash management, and then select Bank & credit card reconciliation. Select a credit card account from the account selector.
The page contains the following tabs:
- To reconcile contains imported transactions that still require review.
- Reconciled contains matched or categorized transactions and recorded payments.
- Excluded contains imported transactions removed from reconciliation.
Select Review for a transaction on the To reconcile tab. The Review transaction drawer provides the applicable actions:
- Match when the transaction is already recorded in QuickStart.
- Categorize to create an expense for a positive charge or an expense refund for a negative amount.
- Record as payment for a negative amount that pays down the credit card and is not already recorded.
QuickStart can suggest matches and expense categories after transactions are imported. Review a suggestion before confirming it to avoid duplicate transactions. You can confirm multiple transactions together only when each has one unambiguous suggested match or category.
Use Unreconcile on the Reconciled tab to reverse a completed result. If QuickStart created a transaction during categorization or payment recording, unreconciling can also delete that automatically created transaction.
You need the account administrator, full business access, or accountant access profile.
