Credit a vendor bill

Create a vendor credit from an eligible open vendor bill when all or part of the billed amount must be reduced. QuickStart carries the vendor and bill lines into the new credit, which posts immediately or after approval and can then be applied to an eligible vendor bill.

Before you begin

You need an eligible open vendor bill. See Create a vendor bill.

Credit the vendor bill

  1. Open an eligible open vendor bill.

  2. Select More actions > Credit.

  3. Review the vendor, credit date, reference ID, item or expense lines, posting period, and accounts payable account sourced from the bill.

  4. Remove or adjust lines so the credit represents the amount granted by the vendor.

  5. Select Save as draft or Submit.

The credit posts immediately after submission when approval is not required, or after it is approved when approval is required. It can then be applied to an eligible vendor bill. A posting vendor credit debits accounts payable and credits the applicable asset or expense accounts represented by its lines.
