Set the default inventory costing method
Set the costing method that QuickStart selects by default when a user enables inventory tracking on a new product. The user can override this default while creating the product. Open Menu > Products and services > Settings.
Changing the preference does not change the costing method on existing items.
Before you begin
You need permission to update item preferences. Confirm the costing method your company uses before changing this company-wide default.
Set the default inventory costing method
- Open Menu > Products and services > Settings.
- Select Item preferences.
- In Inventory costing method, select the method your company uses for new inventory products.
- Select Apply.
The selected costing method remains displayed as the company preference and is used as the default on subsequently created inventory products.
