How the report is calculated
The report sums posting general ledger impact for balance sheet accounts through the selected as-of period. Assets, liabilities, and equity are grouped by account type. Fiscal-year-to-date net income, from the beginning of the current fiscal year through the selected period, is included in equity. Earnings from prior fiscal years are included as a balance forward in retained earnings. Draft and other non-posting transactions and activity after the selected period are excluded. Total assets equal total liabilities plus equity when the underlying posting entries are balanced.
Column definitions
The following table defines each column on the balance sheet report:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| As of period amount | The value of each balance sheet account as of the specified period. In most cases, selecting the amount takes you to the corresponding balance sheet detail report. |
| Comparative as of period amount | The value of each balance sheet account as of the comparative period. In most cases, selecting the amount takes you to the corresponding balance sheet detail report. |
| Change | The difference between the as of period amount and the comparative as of period amount. |
| % change | The change divided by the absolute value of the comparative as-of-period amount, multiplied by 100. When the comparative amount is zero, the report displays zero percent. |
