Get started with accounting period preferences
Use Menu > Accounting > Settings > Accounting preferences > Accounting period preferences to control how QuickStart creates future fiscal years and year-end adjustment periods. These account-level preferences determine whether period creation continues automatically after the periods established during initial setup.
There are two ways to access your accounting period preferences:
- Open Menu. Under the Accounting section, select Settings, and then select the Accounting preferences card. From the Accounting preferences page, select Accounting period preferences.
- Search for accounting preferences using the global search field.
The following preferences are available in the Accounting period preferences section:

| Number of automatically created future fiscal years | QuickStart can automatically create accounting periods at the end of each fiscal year. |
| Create an adjustment period at the end of the year | QuickStart can automatically create adjustment periods at the end of each fiscal year. |
